The average recommendation is 2 times per week. We will usually recommend more visits per week for a more severe case or post-surgical rehab. Some cases are appropriate for 1 visit per week or less.
Do I have to do physical therapy forever?
With physical therapy, we try to continue having visits until you are satisfied with your progress, or until we have reached a plateau in progress. The average is 4 to 6 weeks, however, this could range anywhere between 1 to 20+ visits, and depends on the severity of the condition.
How will I know if physical therapy is working?
You should see noticeable improvement within 4 visits in most cases. You can always discuss if you are progressing correctly with your provider or referring Dr.
I want to start physical therapy, but I will have a vacation soon.
You can always take a break from physical therapy and return with these situations, but we will just have to plan ahead.
How long are my appointments?
Expect your visits to be at least 40 minutes, up to an hour.
Can I do shorter visits?
Yes, we offer different lengths of treatments according to your needs. This is best to discuss with your provider.
Does physical therapy hurt?
Physical therapy can "hurt", but sometimes that is a good thing! Your provider will help you learn the difference between a good pain and a bad pain!
What should I wear?
Usually you will need to wear clothes that can provide us access to the area that we will be treating. If you are unable to access these kind of clothes, we can provide a gown for you to wear during your appointment.
